A MAP price is a minimum amount that resellers agree not to advertise below.
For example, if a backpack company sets a MAP price of $50 for its best selling item then all resellers including brick and mortar stores, websites and Amazon resellers are obligated to advertise this product at $50 or more.
If they advertise the product at a discount of $35, the Amazon reseller would be in violation of the backpack company’s MAP agreement.
What this means for us is there are many items we cannot post the price on our website. And while we hate the extra step of adding a product to the cart just to see the price, I think we can all agree that being able to get a lower price and save a few $$. Just because we cannot advertise the lower price does not mean we cannot sell for a lower price!
